Greetings 8A Students and Parents. 

 

Let me take this opportunity to welcome the Class of 2023!

 

I am the Special Education and Consultant Teacher for Team 8A. As a Consultant Teacher, I push into Mrs. Dean's 8A ELA class, as well as Mrs. Billings' 8A math class. I work with these teachers to develop curriculum and to ensure that the Students With Disabilities (SWD) are receiving instruction in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

 

I also teach Resource classes where my primary focus is to provide students with opportunities to meet their Individual Education Plan (IEP) Goals. These goals consist of a mixture of reading, writing, and mathematical concepts as well as career, study and organizational needs. 

 

Team 8A also meets as a group daily. This provides me with an opportunity to check in with Mrs. Dorr  (8A Science) and Mr. Wheeler (8A Social Studies) to discuss what students are learning in those classes and how I can supplement the students learning during my Resource Classes. 

 

My role is to ensure that the Students with Disabilities (SWD) on Team 8A are working toward achieving their measurable goals per their IEP, provide testing accommodations, program modifications, provide them with the means necessary to succeed in all of their classes in eighth grade,  and finally, to prepare them to be successful students in the high school and beyond.
